At 1st Billingshurst we are very proud of our links with
the Royal British Legion and do all we can to support their
poppy appeal. In 2006 our leaders
received a
special award to thank us for our contribution.
In 2007 we once again helped sell the poppies, attended
the Remembrance Sunday parade and then counted the money.
Poppy selling
On Tuesday 30 October we spent our pack meeting helping the poppy sellers.
We normally go to Budgens but this year we got permission to
sell poppies outside Tesco as well. We split into 3 groups
and all the Cubs got the chance to be in both locations at
some stage in the evening.
The collection tins were nice and heavy by the end of the evening. We understand that our heavy tins
raised £51 in Budgens and £71 in Tesco - a grand total of £122, not bad for an
evening's work!
Remembrance Sunday
On Sunday 11 November we joined the parade through the
village.

Counting the money
All the poppy collection tins were brought to Cubs on
Tuesday 13 November. The cubs opened each of them and logged
the contents.
At the end of the counting there was a grand total of £766.78
