On 28
February 2007 the Cubs from Parbrook pack visited St Mary's
church in Billingshurst. As well as a tour of the church
itself and a chance to try on some robes the Cubs were also
allowed to climb the steep steps into the belfry, meet the
bell ringers and see them ringing the bells.

It all started here
When the Cubs came to Church for Remembrance Sunday, Kyle asked where the steps went to. We set Raksha a challenge to find out |

Getting changed
The Cubs tried on some of the robes that are worn in church |

Name dropper
The Cubs search for their family names in the parish registers |
|
|
|
Can you find the Gravetts?
Raksha knows that her family are mentioned several times in the registers |

Very steep
The belfry is at the top of these very steep and narrow steps |

Cubs in the belfry
It wasn't safe for the Cubs to actually ring the bells but we saw the bellringers in action |

Thanks to Cathy and the Billingshurst Bell Ringers for
letting us come along to see them in action, to Raksha for
organising the trip and to Kyle for setting the original
challenge.
