Royal Berkshire Beaver Scouts
County Fun Day - Ascot 2004

2nd Bracknell

This event, which is held every 2 years, took place at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 15 May. We had almost 50 Beavers, parents and leaders and everybody seemed to have a good time.

The view

Looking back from the stands you can see several of the bouncy castles and other activities

Keep your balance

One part of the obstacle course

Bash!

Who will be the first to knock the other one off their perch?

Time for a rest

Baloo has a chat with Sylvia from 1st South Ascot while the Beavers queue for the go-carts

Go Carts^

There was quite a long queue for these but it looks as if it was worth the wait

Round we go^

Makes a change from a bouncy castle!

All aboard^

The little train was another popular ride

Bouncy er shoe?

A popular choice with the Beavers - you can make out some red scarves still queuing up

Front of the queue

It's almost time to go on the bouncy shoe/castle

Sliding

An action shot!

Action stations

Jonathan mans the trolley at the top of the chute

Woosh

The trolley picks up speed as the steepest bit of the ramp is near the end

Working hard

Our District Commissioner was working on the ecobus where all the energy came from solar panels

Empty stands

With the Beavers busy doing the activities the stands are very quiet

Charlie's rabbit

In the animal ark there was a chance to hold or stroke many animals including chicks, goats and a cow

Loose goat

Some of the exhibits were allowed to wander freely

Trainee juggler

Mo proves she can juggle. Apparently it is easier than understanding the new leader training scheme

Oh dear

But not for long

In a spin

Some people made the plate spinning look easy

Lunch

Then it was back to the stands for a spot of lunch

Y

Our district got to sing YMCA and joined in with great enthusiasm

M or is it C?

Not everybody was sure of the actions

A

But that one is clear enough

Cavers

One of the most popular bases is the caving. Two cavers wait to start exploring the caves

Blast off

The rockets went a long way if you had a good jump on the launch pad

Spacemen

I thought it was the Cubs who were doing Space Camp this year...

Tea break

After all that rushing about in the sun it was time for a sit down and a drink

Goalie 1, Alex 0

Alex tries to beat the goalie but it looks as if the goalie will win this time

Goodbye

And then it was all over for another 2 years. Tired but happy the Beavers head for home.

Thanks to all the parents that helped out - we hope that you had an enjoyable day.
